Gwyneth Paltrow under fire for undertaking $29 a week food stamp challenge
Gwyneth Paltrow has come under fire for her grocery options as she attempts to live on a $29 a week food budget.
The Oscar winning actress is famously out of touch with non-millionaires, as is often evidenced on her lifestyle website, Goop.

But she agreed to undertake a challenge headed by chef Mario Batali, in order to put pressure on Congress to address the cuts that have been implemented to the 1.5 million New Yorkers living on food stamps (aka SNAP).inted out she could have afforded more if she was realistic about her taste.
She shared a photo of seven limes, two heads of lettuce, soy beans, coriander, eggs, brown rice and an avocado, prompting Twitter users to point out how far from reality her weekly shop is from the average New Yorker relying on SNAP.

@GwynethPaltrow you spend $29 on organic salt and pepper alone.— Harrison (@Harrison588) April 9, 2015
@GwynethPaltrow why'd you buy so many limes if you're on that tight of a budget? wtf?— katrinks (@kathyrinkes) April 9, 2015
@GwynethPaltrow but they wouldn't buy that stuff! Most would buy the cheapest versions and stuff that stretches further if on a budget!— Kate Rolleston (@KateRolleston) April 9, 2015
