Frances McDormand earned a new legion of fans with her relaxed attitude at the Emmy Awards.

The 58-year-old actress is no stranger to golden statuettes (she already has a Best Actress Oscar) and last night, she added a refreshing change of pace to the red carpet.

Frances' work with Olive Kitteridge swept the boards at the prestigious television awards, nabbing an award for Lead Actress in a Mini-Series, as well as Lead Actor in a Mini-Series, Outstanding Writing in a Mini-Series and Outstanding Mini Series.

But McDormand wasn't going to play by anybody else's style rules as she sported a classic black dress, short ponytail and virtually no makeup as she walked the red carpet.

Many took to social media to praise the star's laid-back look, the latest move among female actresses challenging gender inequality in Hollywood and pushing for more questions about their craft, rather than their appearance.
