Former Morning Edition host Keelin Shanley never found wedding ring after giving it to homeless man
Former Morning Edition host Keelin Shanley she never recovered the wedding ring she gave to a homeless man last year.
The RTE presenter hit the headlines last year when she revealed she accidentally gave her ring to the man on New Year's Eve of last year.
She had stopped to give the man some coins on Dublin's Camden Street and believes that's the moment she lost it.
"I never found my wedding ring," she explained, more than a year after launching a campaign to try and track it down.
"I definitely gave it to him," she added. "It was New Year's Eve and everyone was saying, 'Oh, she must have been drunk', but we just brought the kids into town to see the parade and it was eight o'clock. I said to him, 'Oh Happy New Year!'.
"But look, it's a piece of metal and diamonds unfortunately, but we don't think about it now because it's gone."
Keelin (46) returns for a new series of The Consumer Show at 8.30pm on RTE One tomorrow as well as hosting Late Debate on RTE Radio at 10pm.
She joins Ella McSweeney on the TV show that investigates everything from bacteria found in food to puppy farms.
Keelin said she's looking forward to the new challenge after early morning news show Morning Edition was axed before Christmas.
"I do miss Morning Edition, but I'm not missing getting up at the crack of dawn every morning," she said.
