A female farmer who swaps mucking out for miking up is one of the aspiring contestants hoping for a winning ticket on The X Factor.

Hannah Marie Kilminster, a 30-year-old singer from Cirencester, is more used to having an audience comprising pigs, cows, sheep and chickens than an arena, as she performs Queen's Somebody To Love in front of the show's judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw.

A flamboyant hairdresser who has performed with Chaka Khan, a backing singer who has accompanied Tina Turner and Oleta Adams and a former supermarket shelf-stacker also appear on tonight's episode of the ITV singing show.

Joselito Peralta, 51, who met Khan during his cruise ship days, gave the judges a memorable audition with his energetic performance of Barry Manilow's Copacabana.

Singer Anton Stephans, who brought his dog Honey with him to his audition, said he had intentions to pursue a solo career, but "never thought he would be good enough".

Essex resident Che Chesterman, who used to stack the shelves at his local Tesco, wanted to bring soul back with his rendition of Jessie J's Who You Are.

Also hoping to make an impression on the judges are 21-year-old call centre worker Jasmin Leigh Morris, Kent housewife Shaz Paz, male nanny Jordan Luke Gage, and Scottish immigration worker Erwin - who brought his own backing dancers on stage.

The X Factor airs on ITV1 at 7.45pm.
