Former JLS star JB Gill will only sing again if the "right project" comes along.

Gill, who found fame after the boyband were runners-up in 2008's X Factor, said he would rather be at home with his family than touring.

"Music is - and always has been - a huge part of who I am and what I do. I'm not done with singing but the project has to be the right one," he said.

"Being a father is the most important thing to me, so I would prefer to be at home with my family instead of touring. If the right project did come up, then it would have to be when my kids are older."

He has now turned his hand to farming and his new skill will see him hosting new CBeebies' show Down On The Farm.

The programme sees him and presenter Storm Huntley visiting farms, community growing projects and various schools.

Since Gill left the band, farming is something close to his heart, and he owns his own farm in Kent.

"I am a fully-fledged farmer," he said. "The main things for me now are looking after my family and my farm.

"I decided to take part in Down On The Farm because I wanted to expand my knowledge and let others experience farming.

"It's fantastic to be able to use entertainment to draw others in, and I'm excited to develop my farm further."

Gill reckons the most unglamorous daily task he does is mucking out the pig stalls.

He also sells turkeys on his farm, and plans to start breeding them.

:: Down On The Farm starts on August 14 at 5pm on CBeebies.
