Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield 'taking a break' from four year romance
Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are reportedly on a break.
Rumours of trouble in the pair’s romance first emerged earlier this week. But now a source has told People.com that the allegations are in fact true.
According to the publication, Andrew’s work on the new Martin Scorcese movie Silence, which is shooting in Taiwan, has contributed to the pressure of the couple’s long-distance relationship.
"He's thrown himself in the project to the detriment of all else," the source told People. "But it's too early to say the relationship is over."
"Emma understands his work anxieties – it's why she originally pulled out of Cabaret last year and only did it this year – but they're taking a break from seeing each other. They're both a slave to their schedules. This time last year they were privately discussing marriage."
Emma has been dating her 31-year-old Spider-Man co-star since 2011.
The pair have always remained resolutely private about their relationship. However, Emma did speak vaguely about romance in an interview with German magazine Joy back in January.
"You might fall in love with someone who you think is The One, but then it doesn't work out," she said. “Then you meet someone else, and it turns out they are actually the right person for you."
Last year reports surfaced suggesting Emma was hoping to socialise out in public with Andrew more.
It’s claimed she was worried about how some of his idiosyncrasies might impact their future plans.
“Andrew is very focused on keeping Emma happy but for this to become a marriage and a family, she needs him to branch out and come out of his shell a bit,” a source told Radar Online previously.
