'Dramatic' Corrie exit for Tamaddon
Coronation Street actress Hayley Tamaddon - Weatherfield's Andrea Beckett - is leaving the soap.
She will make her exit in a "dramatic plot" which will feature in the Street's live episode, after two years on the show.
Tamaddon's last scenes will air in September, as part of ITV's 60th anniversary celebrations, and soap bosses said the door will be left open for a possible return.
The former Emmerdale actress, 38, joined the show in late 2013 as a night school friend of Steve McDonald.
The actress said she had "made some incredible friends" on the Street, which she described as "one big family".
"I came into Corrie for three months and have stayed for two years! I will be so sad to leave, I have had the best two years of my life here", she said.
"I am excited about my exit storyline and the fact that it is part of the live episode. Corrie has given me a great platform to hopefully go on to work on other dramas but I'd never rule out a return to Weatherfield as I love it so much.
"I am looking forward to what the future holds but in the meantime there is still plenty more to be done here."
Tamaddon, who won the fifth series of Dancing On Ice, also tweeted: "Sat here reading all your lovely tweets with tears in my eyes. Thank you for your kind words guys."
Coronation Street producer Stuart Blackburn said: "Hayley has brought real magic to the Corrie cobbles - funny, energetic, totally professional and a joy to be around as a friend and colleague alike, she'll be sorely missed and I'd simply like to wish her all the very best for the future."
