Donal Skehan pops the question in perfect Paris moment
Celebrity chef Donal Skehan proposed "with a thumping heart" to his long-term girlfriend Sofie Larrson in Paris this weekend.
The 27-year-old chef had been planning the proposal for several months and popped the question in front of the Eiffel Tower.
Skehan announced the news on his blog.
"I had been planning to do it for the last few months and when we booked a weekend break to one of the most romantic cities in the world, I knew the time was right," he wrote.
"I took out the ring and said those very real words, 'Will you marry me?'
"After leaving me hanging with lots of gasping, I put on the ring on her finger and she said yes! A pretty perfect weekend, all said and done," he added.
The couple met in 2006, when Larrson, who is from Gothenburg in Sweden, spent the summer in Howth.
"We really clicked instantly, and chatted for the night," Skehan said.
"It was lovely to have a shoulder to lean on in Sofie as things developed for me."
Since 2009, the pair have worked to expand and build Skehan's culinary empire.
Aside from his RTE series 'Kitchen Hero' and best-selling books, Skehan has worked on 'Grandma's Boy' for US Fox Network.
He is a regular on Jamie Oliver's online channel 'Food Tube' and frequently appears on Swedish mid-morning show 'Mitt Kok'.
