Dolly Parton renews vows on 50th wedding anniversary with reclusive husband Carl Dean
Dolly Parton has confirmed she and her reclusive husband have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a quiet vow renewal ceremony.
The country music star first wed Carl Dean on 30 May, 1966 and the couple celebrated 50 years as husband and wife over the Memorial Day weekend.
Dolly showed off the wedding dress she wore for her second nuptials during a taping of U.S. TV show Home & Family on Tuesday, but had no photos to show hosts Mark Steines and Cristina Ferrare - because her privacy-hungry husband refused to pose for any.
The 70-year-old singer said: "My husband hates pictures, so I didn’t bring any pictures. And I told him, 'You’re worse than my first husband', which was him!"
Parton wore a lavish lacy gown for her renewal ceremony, insisting she wanted to really live it up for her anniversary after originally wearing a simple, short white dress for the original ceremony in 1966.
"I wanted a big beautiful dress that I didn’t get to have before."
Dolly also showed off her personal wig collection during her appearance on the mid-morning show, revealing she started faking her hairdo when her real locks started suffering from years of primping and teasing.
"I used to try to keep my own hair teased as big as I like it, and having the bleach and all of that, it just broke off," she confessed. "I thought, 'Why am I going through all that? Why don't I just wear wigs? That way, I never have a bad hair day! I have a big hair day, but not a bad hair day'."
The Jolene singer and her husband are now reportedly planning a big 50th wedding anniversary party for July.
