David Arquette has confirmed his engagment - just one week after his ex-wife Courteney Cox.

The actor-and-director has been dating Christina McLarty on and off since 2011 and they have a two-month-old son, Charlie, together.

Now E! News has announced that the pair plan to tie the knot, with David's publicist confirming the reports to MailOnline.

The 42-year-old star popped the question during a family dinner with their son and his daughter Coco, ten, who he has with ex-wife Courteney Cox.

David and his clan headed to ocean-view restaurant Mastro's Steakhouse in Malibu, where Christina though they were having a low-key dinner. Her beau then surprised her by getting the whole family outside at sunset, where he got down on one knee and proposed.

The news comes just six days after David's ex Courteney revealed she was set to marry her musician lover Johnny McDaid.

The pair used Twitter to announce their happy news, with both posting a loved-up selfie to their followers. Courteney captioned hers "I'm engaged to him!", while Johnny mimicked the message by writing "I'm engaged to her!"

Johnny, 37, proposed at Amanyara resort in Turks and Caicos, where the couple were celebrating Courteney's 50th birthday.

Courteney spoke candidly about her divorce from David, who she is on good terms with, in an interview earlier this year.

"When you love someone, you want them to be happy, even if it's not with you," she told More magazine.

"In divorce you always have regret. We were married for a long time, so it's not like we didn't try."
