Darren Kennedy plans summer of 'swooning' over Tom Ford in London
RTE presenter Darren Kennedy is gearing up for a fashionable summer of globe-trotting.
He will be attending London's Men's Collections from June 12 to 15 and will be jetting to New York soon after for the inaugural New York Fashion Week: Men's showcase from July 13 to 16.
And while he might be a pro at sitting FROW and rubbing shoulders with famous faces including David Gandy, Carine Roitfield and Anna Wintour; he said his highlight of the year will be meeting Tom Ford again.
“We’re now coming into the sixth season of the London Men’s Collections,” he told Independent.ie. “It’s where the good and the great of menswear from right across the globe – all the big British heritage brands and the highlight for me is always Tom Ford.
“I get to meet him, swoon and drool. He has it...whatever ‘it’ is.”
The 34-year-old stylist and presenter currently divides his time between Dublin and London for work, but says it's the same as any other commute.
“I am really happy to do both,” he said.
“Home is Dublin for me, in my heart anyway. Some people travel to Dundalk to Dublin every day, my travel is just different. It’s just part and parcel of the work.”
Kennedy is a rising star in Montrose, having wrapped two successful series, #Trending and The Unemployables, opposite Jennifer Maguire and said he is hoping for a second season of both shows.
He also vocally campaigned for the Yes vote in the marriage referendum and said that he has been asked more recently why he and his long-term boyfriend Aidan Harney, haven't decided to walk up the aisle yet.
“I have been asked a few times, asking why I haven’t,” he laughed.
“It’s brilliant to think that one day I may he able to say I’m getting engaged and that’s very exciting.”
Darren Kennedy was in Dublin city centre to celebrate GoCar, Ireland’s only car sharing initiative expanding its fleet of cars past the 100 mark. GoCar vehicles are conveniently located at Go Bases across Dublin and Cork cities. For more info, see GoCar.ie.
