Daithi O Se and Rita Talty made a rare public appearance today - all in the name of helping children.

The RTE star and the former New Jersey Rose wed in 2012 and welcomed their first son Mícheál Óg in March of last year.

The couple have made only a handful of public appearances together in their five year relationship, but made an exception today to launch a new toddler nutrition initiative, ToddleBox.

The pair looked more in love than ever as they posed for the cameras at a photocall launching the initiative, with Rita even jokingly feeding her husband - who has never been one to take himself too seriously.

And they said they are educating themselves in the best possible nutritional path for their one-year-old son, who is based in Galway with his parents.

"Mícheál Óg has been an absolute joy since he was born last March and now as he hits the important toddler years, Rita and I are more aware of his nutritional needs than ever before," Daithi said today. "We want to be certain his growth and development are where they need to be and we know correct nutrition is key.

"We do find meal times can be a struggle now and again with Mícheál Óg refusing foods that were his favourite last week or with him choosing to eat only one part and leaving the rest. We want meal times to be fun but as any parent with a toddler knows, it can be next to impossible to be sure they are not just full but full of nutritious foods."
