Class Act: Kanye West is teaching at a fashion college for his community service
No rubbish collecting for Kanye. The rapper is reportedly teaching at a Los Angeles fashion school to make up his hours of community service.
The newlywed cut a plea deal earlier this year to avoid serving time in jail. He had been charged with criminal battery after allegedly attacking a photographer.
Kanye agreed to 24 months informal probation and 250 hours community service as punishment for the attack last summer in Los Angeles.
However the 37-year-old has managed to avoid the mundane clean up jobs typically associated with community service. Instead, he will spend his hours lecturing on a subject close to his heart:
“He's kicking off his community service in fashionable form - teaching at a fashion school,” TMZ reports.
The performer has reportedly visited the L.A. Trade Technical College three times in the last six weeks.
The institute specialises in designing apparel, and as a fashion designer himself, Kanye is able to share his wealth of knowledge with the students.
The rapper already had a notoriously frosty relationship with the paparazzi when he got into an argument with photographer Daniel Ramos outside Los Angeles International Airport last year.
In October 2013, Kanye was filling his car at a petrol station in Calabasas, California when he told a lurking photographer:
“I know it makes a cool photo, I got a cool ass car, I got a dope ass outfit on, it’s all good but we’re in this together.
" You help me, you help with the family, you help Kim, I’m not trying to be at you all the time. I don’t want to be a negative influence on you guys, I don’t want you to be negative on me, I would prefer that we have a good relationship," he added.
The high profile star honeymooned in Ireland with reality TV personality Kim Kardashian last month, and they were unusually private.
