Clare Balding was advised not to take her wedding ring to Brazil for the Olympics, according to her wife.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed that the sports presenter was not wearing the ring in the lead-up to the 2016 Rio Olympics opening ceremony.
But her wife Alice Arnold, watching from the UK, tweeted: "I'm amazed how many have noticed @clarebalding is not wearing her wedding ring..don't worry..it's safely at home with me.."
To one concerned viewer, she responded: "I'm sure it would be fine..but wise not to wear irreplaceable jewellery."
Former BBC Radio 4 newsreader Arnold was responding to messages from fans, with one commenting: "Why is Clare balding not wearing her wedding ring," and another asking "where's your wedding ring? Is all ok?"
The couple wed last year after 14 years together.
