Celebrity chef Clodagh McKenna (39) is single after she and her other half, Peter Gaynor, split.
The Herald can reveal that the couple, who had been together since 2012, went their separate ways a few months ago, with privacy-conscious Clodagh opting to keep it under wraps for a while.
Clodagh met the businessman - whose sister Olivia Gaynor runs The Residence members' club - six months after she returned home from living in Italy more than six years ago. They were introduced by a mutual friend.
Clodagh once described Peter as being "like a male version of me" and had even indicated that marriage might have been on the cards.
Given their mutual interest in the food industry, it was only natural that she and her ex, who co-owns Capital Foods, were involved in a number of culinary businesses together. The Homemade by Clodagh Food Court at Arnotts contract was ended by mutual agreement in May 2014. Capital Foods still operates the food court at Arnotts.
It was revealed last week that Clodagh had also left her restaurant business in Blackrock village with plans to launch a "new dining experience" in the coming months. The business in Blackrock is still operated by Capital Foods. The Ballymaloe-trained chef opened Clodagh's Kitchen in the southside suburb in 2013, but it re-opened recently under the new name of Barker's.
Clodagh reportedly has her sights on opening a restaurant in another Dublin location later this year.
"With great thought I have decided to move location and to create and develop a new dining concept," she said.
"The exact location will be announced over the next couple of months. I am very excited and so grateful for the support from all of our loyal customers over the years."
Clodagh has also been busy continuing to build up her brand in the US. Clodagh's Irish Food Trails was snapped up by PBS and Create TV in America, and she has become a regular on Rachel Ray's lifestyle show in New York. She recently told the Diary that she has exciting plans for a new show for US audiences.
