Cathriona White's best friend Jenny pays tribute to her 'soul sister' and plans memorial service in LA
Cathriona White's best friend Jenny Burpee has paid tribute to her "soul sister".
The 28-year-old from Cappawhite, Co Tipperary, moved to Los Angeles in 2010 and had been working as a makeup artist for several years.
She was propelled into the spotlight in 2012 when she began dating Hollywood actor Jim Carrey, but the couple split a year later. They reconciled once again in May.
And her best friend in California Jenny, a tv producer, has come forward to describe her late friend as "the little Irish girl that everyone loved and I am not exaggerating."
"From the moment I met her, I knew I'd found a sister."
"We met through mutual friends, she had come over here with two guys, one of them was her boyfriend.
"It didn't work out and I kind of took her under my wing. I basically adopted her."
In an interview with the Irish Daily Star, Burpee said that she hadn't heard from the Tipperary makeup artist for four days and went over to her home in LA's Sherman Oaks area to check on her.
"I just knew something was wrong when she didn't reply to my texts on the fourth day.
"I've lost my best friend, my soul sister. I will never get over it."
It was Jenny who alerted authorities of Cathriona's death.
She has organised a memorial to honour her late friend on Monday with her mother Brigid, stepmother Brid, sister Lisa and Carrey is also expected to be in attendance. Lisa was pictured at his home last night.
"Cat's sister Lisa and her stepmother landed last night so I will also be speaking to them," she added to the Irish Daily Star.
"The place where we are going to have her memorial is going to be very private with just a handful of her friends and family.
"A few years ago, Cat texted me and said, 'You've got to see this place Jen, it's amazing. It's like it's not even in LA."
"We are going to keep it small, which is going to be so hard because she was loved by so many."
The White family have landed in LA and are planning on burying Cathriona with her late father Pat, who died in 2012 after a 21-year battle with brain cancer.
