Cathriona White, the ex-girlfriend of Jim Carrey, was married at the time of her death.
It has emerged that the 30-year-old from Tipperary was married to Mark Burton, a cameraman she met in Los Angeles while working on an online comedy series.
Their wedding certificate, obtained by Independent.ie, shows that she and Mr Burton wed at the Heavenly Bliss Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas on January 15, 2013.
It's reported that the couple were separated and Cathriona intended on beginning divorce proceedings in December.
Meanwhile, a 'deferred death certificate' has been completed so that her remains can be repatriated to Ireland.
Cathriona was found dead at her home in Los Angeles' Sherman Oaks on December 30, the third anniversary of her father Patrick's death.
Patrick died in 2012 after losing a 21-year battle to brain cancer.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, Ed Winter, the assistant chief of the Los Angeles coroner's office, said her remains may be flown home today.
"Her body was released to her family yesterday afternoon," he said. "She has a husband, Mark Burton. Her husband has been in contact with her mom and sister."
He also said the fact she was married came as a shock to some of her friends.
"They were separated, but had remained on good terms," he added.
Ms White died last week. The cause of her death has not yet been confirmed.
Her boyfriend Jim Carrey is expected to fly to Ireland for her funeral, with her mother Brigid, stepmother Brid and sister Lisa, who flew to LA to bring Cathriona home.
The Mask actor has been left "devastated" after her death last week. In a statement, he said the news of her death was akin to being "hit with a lightning bolt", and described Cathriona as "a kind and delicate Irish flower too sensitive for this soil".
Attending her funeral in Ireland will be a last act of devotion to the woman he loved, sources said.
"He has been in touch with Cathriona's family and they want him there," a source said.
"They know how much he meant to her."
