She's no stranger to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, but Caroline Wozniacki upped the ante for this year's issue.

The Danish tennis star (25) is pictured in the much talked about 2016 issue, wearing just red bodypaint in substitute of a red swimsuit on the beach, joying supermodel Chrissy Teigen and UFC star Ronda Rousey, who both opted for the barely there look.

The former world number one, who was previously engaged to Irish golfer Rory McIlroy, took to social media to thank her glam squad for helping her look "my best in years" in the magazine. Wozniacki first appeared in the magazine in last year's issue, where she chose a more demure white bodysuit.

This year has seen a distinctive shift in the tone of the annual publication, with the same formula of supermodels in bikinis coupled with more realistic looking women on three different covers. Rousey, Hailey Clauson and plus-size model Ashley Graham each landed a cover in an unprecedented move.

Assistant Managing Editor of Sports Illustrated explained the move: "Every single woman that is booked for this magazine is cover worthy. The collective beauty in the magazine is overwhelming. SI has always been and will always be about the models; the pictures you see here are a celebration of them.

"The three covers of Hailey, Ronda and Ashley celebrate the new SI Swimsuit. All three women are beautiful, sexy and strong. Beauty is not cookie cutter. Beauty is not 'one size fits all.' Beauty is all around us and that became especially obvious to me while shooting and editing this year's issue."
