Taylor Swift was reportedly encouraged to apologise to Nicki Minaj by boyfriend Calvin Harris.
The pair indulged in something of a Twitter spat after Nicki accused MTV of favouring other girls over her for a Video of the Year nomination at the Video Music Awards. Taylor took her tweet to be directed at her and hit back at Nicki for pitting women against each other.
When Nicki then denied she had been referencing Taylor, the Shake It Off singer later apologised.

I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki. @NICKIMINAJ— Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) July 23, 2015
“I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki. @NICKIMINAJ,” Taylor wrote.
Now it has emerged that it was Taylor’s DJ boyfriend Calvin who urged her to be the bigger woman and say sorry on Twitter.
Calvin encouraged Taylor to reach out to Nicki and publicly apologise to her on Twitter,” a source told HollywoodLife.com. “He could tell the whole spat was really upsetting her and knew she would feel better if she made peace.”
“Calvin is a pretty mellow, even-keeled guy and has a way of always being there for Taylor when she feels stressed. He knows Taylor doesn’t function well with high drama, and convinced her to nip the chaos in the bud by resolving the issue with Nicki. [It’s] one of the many reasons why Taylor is completely smitten with Calvin.”
Nicki responded well to Taylor’s apology tweet.
“That means so much Taylor, thank you. @taylorswift13,” the rapper wrote, closing out the message with three heart emojis.
Nicki finalised the conversation by asking people to get over the drama.
