Caitlyn Jenner set to pose nude on the cover of Sports Illustrated
Caitlyn Jenner is to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated wearing “nothing but an American flag and her Olympic medal”.
The shoot is timed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her record-breaking victory at the 1976 Montreal Summer Games, when she won the decathlon event as Bruce Jenner.
Us Weekly reports that it will be the first time the Olympian has appeared publicly with her gold model since her transition, and that she is "so excited about it".
Until now, the 66-year-old said she has kept it hidden at the bottom of her make-up drawer, although she described it as her “most prized possession”.
Last year, Jenner wrote in a blog that she is “so proud” of the award.
“However, I never wanted my kids to feel like they had to have a gold medal in order to be considered a success.
“I didn’t want them to constantly compare their own achievements to my time in the Olympics, so I haven’t displayed my medal,” she wrote.
In a video accompanying the post, which was published shortly after she came out as transgender, she added: “That was a great time of my life.
"But to be honest with you, it’s an even greater time of my life right now with what I’m trying to accomplish.”
The upcoming Sports Illustrated cover comes a year after Jenner debuted her new name and identity on the July 2015 cover of Vanity Fair.
