'VOICE of Ireland' coach Niall Breslin and fashion presenter Angela Scanlon have met with 2fm bosses ahead of the station's revamp.

RTE is in the process of overhauling the 2fm brand with a view to attracting a young audience.

The pair are understood to have met with the station's boss Dan Healy to discuss possible projects.

Among the other names being hotly tipped for new slots are comedy duo Jennifer Maguire and Bernard O'Shea, who are expected to replace Hector O hEochagain. DJ Louise McSharry is also tipped to take to the airwaves mid-week.

Since the death of Gerry Ryan in 2010, 2fm has struggled to retain listeners. Sources at the station acknowledge that it needs a new lease of life to compete with Today FM and the growth in local radio.

"This is the first major re-haul of the station since Gerry Ryan's death. The plan is to bring in new talent, giving younger DJs and broadcasters the chance to develop and grow," explained an insider.

Stylist and TV presenter Angela Scanlon has already fronted a popular RTE television documentary 'Reality Bites'.

Niall Breslin, former front-man of The Blizzards, is best known for appearing on RTE's entertainment show 'The Voice of Ireland'.

This week, it also emerged veteran broadcaster Larry Gogan may be moving to a weekend slot.
