Breast cancer survivor and the wife of singer Daniel O'Donnell, Majella reveals why she has given up on her health kick.
The 55-year-old embarked on a lifestyle overhaul after getting the all-clear from the doctors, but she claims that it left her 'miserable'.
"I gave up coffee and tea, I went organic, I stopped drinking wine...and I just thought, this is miserable, I can't live like this" the Tipperary native told the RTE Guide.
"The oncologist gave me a few tips. Green tea is beneficial, exercise is very good, don't put plastic into the microwave," she shared.
However, the mother-of-two was determined to "live life to the fullest" and indulge a little.
"What will be, will be," Majella added. "I mean, I'm reasonably healthy. I exercise, I keep my weight in check. I'm not negligent. I'm just not going to be OTT."
Speaking in hindsight about the shock diagnosis two years ago, Majella insists that she never let herself succumb to negative thoughts.
"I'm the kind of person who won't allow myself to take things like that on board. I didn't think, 'Oh God, I have cancer, I could die.'"
"I'm a positive thinker and I'd say to myself, 'Don't be ridiculous. You'll have an operation and be fine. Take it one day at a time and don't think about five years down the line.'"
She added that Daniel, her husband of 13 years, was her "rock" throughout the battle.
