Billie Piper turns to 'soulmate' ex Chris Evans for support in wake of marriage split with Laurence Fox
Billie Piper has been leaning on ex-husband Chris Evans for support as she announced her split with Laurence Fox.
The Penny Dreadful actress (33) confirmed she is set to divorce her husband of eight years earlier this week and has been turning to Evans as a shoulder to cry on. Piper reportedly refers to the 49-year-old as her "soulmate", according to The Mirror, and has often run to her former love, who is "protective" of her.
Piper and Evans' marriage lasted six years, ending in 2007. They wed in 2001 after six months of dating when she was 18 and he was 34..
"She's been leaning on Chris as the marriage began to go wrong. He's her soulmate," the insider said.
"Laurence always got annoyed by the running off to the ex-husband every time they argued – and Chris' wife isn't too impressed either.
In a 2006 autobiography, the Secret Diary of a Call Girl star wrote that her romance with Chris was "magic" from the beginning, writing: "From that moment on we lived in each other’s pockets. Actually, it wasn’t so much that I lived in his pocket as that I tried to burrow deep inside, curl up into a tiny ball and wait for all my responsibilities to go away.”
Chris wed wife of nine years Natasha Shishmanian in 2007 and the couple have two children Noah and Eli.
Meanwhile, Laurence previously described it was "love at first sight" when he met Billie.
"It absolutely happened when I met Bill. We were in a rehearsal room and I knew there and then she was the one for me," he said in an interview in 2010.
While appearing on GMTV back in 2008, the actor revealed how the couple shared a "drunken lunch" during their honeymoon in Mexico and ending up getting matching tattoos to mark their marriage.
The actor's tattoo, which is inked on his forearm, reads: "Mrs Fox 31st December 2007", while hers reads: "Mr Fox 31 December 2007".
