Beyoncé and Solange jet to Costa Rica amid 'lift-gate' controversy
Beyonce and Solange jetted to Costa Rica for a quick getaway following an incident in which Solange allegedly attacked her sister’s husband Jay Z in a lift.
The famous sisters travelled to Costa Rica on a private plane late last week, E! News confirmed.
According to the reports, Queen Bey and Solange both arrived in Costa Rica on Thursday evening and left again first thing on Saturday morning.
It is believed the pair travelled for former Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland’s wedding and Jay Z did not accompany them on the trip.
The trip came just days before security footage was released that showed Solange attacking her brother-in-law in an elevator after the Met Ball.
Solange is shown punching and kicking Jay Z as the security guard attempts to hold her back. Meanwhile, Beyonce remains passive throughout the video.
The Standard Hotel have since released a statement on the breach of security at the hotel with the leaking of the tape: "We are shocked and disappointed that there was a clear breach of our security system and the confidentiality that we count on providing our guests.
"We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to our fullest capacity."
According to TMZ, who obtained the footage, the three exited the building following the incident.
Beyoncé and Solange got into one vehicle, while Jay Z was escorted into another by security.
As of yet, it is unclear what exactly triggered the reaction and all parties have remained silent.
