Banderas and Griffith ‘face $50 million divorce’
The pair will have to sort through nearly 20 years of accumulated marital assets
And according to People magazine, the pair will have to sort through nearly 20 years of accumulated marital assets as their divorce proceedings move forward.
Last week news broke the Oscar-winning actress had filed legal papers wishing to end her 18-year marriage to fellow actor Antonio.
But even though the former couple have amassed a fortune together, sources claim money was never a divisive issue for them.
“[Melanie and Antonio are] worth more than you think,” an insider told People.
“[But] money never seemed to be an issue with them. I don't think you'll find out that they're divorcing over money."
Although both Melanie and Antonio have gained wealth through the entertainment industry, apparently his investments extend beyond Hollywood.
Antonio is the owner of several commercial real estate ventures and restaurants worldwide.
“[He] is a shrewd businessman; he has a lot of investments and business interests. Melanie's no slouch either,” the source explained.
"He doesn't brag about it, but if you ask him, he loves to talk business. He loves to talk about what makes money and what doesn't. He's very, very smart and savvy with his money."
The 56-year-old actress met the 53-year-old Shrek actor on the set of 1995 film Two Much. Antonio was married to his first wife at the time but after beginning a relationship with Melanie, it ended in divorce and the pair married a month later in London, England.
