A candidate on The Apprentice has avoided being told "You're Fired!" after quitting the show.

Scott Saunders has left the BBC One series after clashing with Lord Sugar in an episode due to be broadcast, The Sun on Sunday reported.

The 27-year-old from Hertfordshire walks out of the boardroom after the billionaire entrepreneur criticises his "idiotic" mistakes and "useless" performance, the newspaper said.

An Apprentice spokeswoman said: "We never comment on upcoming episodes because it spoils viewer enjoyment."

It is not the first time a candidate has quit the Apprentice.

Katie Hopkins, now a controversial commentator, walked off the show in 2006, while Raleigh Addlington left in 2010 after his brother was wounded in an explosion in Afghanistan.
