IRISH journalist and former beauty queen Amanda Brunker has revealed she believes she narrowly escaped being raped by a well known celebrity.
She made the revelations the day after celebrity publicist Max Clifford was found guilty of eight sex offences.
Writing for the Sunday World, she said: "When I was just a 17 year-old Miss Ireland I also fell into the trap of two older, powerful men."
She said she was the victim of a "predatory sexual advance by a well-known businessman."
Ms Brunker says the incident happened shortly after she was crowned Miss Ireland.
"I was conned to an empty venue by one after being promised an introduction with a West End producer. My head was filled with stories of potential success in London.
"Riches, bright lights and a glamorous lifestyle awaited me. Or so I thought."
However she found that no West End producer was waiting for her at the venue.
"Just like the Bond girl role that Clifford promised one victim, my West End producer was imaginary fiction.
"He didn’t exist but a different famous face was waiting for me instead."
Despite her young age, she believes her street savvy enabled her to escape the situation.
"That night I'm certain I dodged being raped. I’d like to think my Finglas smarts outwitted and manipulated the situation cleverly but deep down I know it was just pure luck.
"Having had first-hand experience of a sexual pervert, I think I understand the randy Mr Clifford a little more now.
"How a seemingly polite, upstanding businessman can morph into a sex pest and monster is a scary thing. But it just goes to show, trust no one with your children."
