Alicia Vikander dazzles on Toronto red carpet amid reports she and Michael Fassbender 'will wed next month'
As one of the most emphatically private couples in Hollywood, it's hard to get a straight answer on Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender's relationship.
The couple, who met on set while filming The Light Between Oceans in 2014, have been plagued by (false) split rumours, reports they've moved in together in 2016 and now, it's been reported they will wed in a no expense spared ceremony next month; which, if true, will be one of the best kept secrets in showbiz.
Despite the mounting speculation they will exchange vows in Ibiza in October, Vikander, an Oscar-winning actress (28) wasn't giving anything away as she hit the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) to promote her film Euphoria, an indie film which she produced.
The Swedish star stole the show in a printed dress with leather ribbon detail by Louis Vuitton, the French fashion house she is a brand ambassador for. She stars opposite Eva Green and Charlotte Rampling in Euphoria, a story about estranged sister who take a mysterious trip through Europe and she told IndieWire that she hopes it's the first of many productions she has more creative control over.
“I was starting to, as an actor, be choosing projects where I could be part of it maybe earlier on, than just being hired to go and do a week of rehearsals and then step in on set," she said. "I had been starting to be a part of projects where I could be part of the script development. I was very fortunate to have directors who brought me into the edit.
"More and more, I’d started to feel like, this feels natural. I love filmmaking, and it’s always attracted me. It felt natural to be part of something from the beginning."
Meanwhile, Vikander was unsurprisingly mum about her "wedding", which The Sun reported last week.
"The details of the party are being kept under lock and key. Guests have been told to arrive in Ibiza on a certain date and they will then be collected and taken to the hotel. He’s splashing out big time and it’s going to be the party of the year," a source told the paper.
When asked earlier this year about why he and Vikander are so protective of their privacy, Fassbender (40), from Co Kerry, responded: "I'm not going to talk about my private life with a total stranger, unless I feel like I need to. Why would I? I don't."
Vikander echoed his statements, saying: "I think we’ve made a clear statement that we keep certain things just between us. It was very easy to unite, but that’s quite personal."
