After a year of dating, Amanda Byram finally introduces her 'amazing' boyfriend
Amanda Byram might be one of the most refreshing celebrities out there, but there's one thing she's kept to herself until now - her boyfriend.
The 41-year-old tv presenter is one of Ireland's most successful tv exports, but she has spent the last year keeping her new man away from the limelight.
Following her split from rugby player Craig McMullen in 2012, she became the poster girl for single women and told Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show that she felt even bad about meeting someone.
Byram appeared on the show, with the support of her boyfriend (whom she still hasn't named) and her father, Shah.
"I had a great time but I never me that special person and I spent a long time being single and I think it was like solidarity for single women - I was the champion," she explained.
"When I finally did meet someone, I felt bad about it. I put a picture on Instagram after our year anniversary an somebody tweeted: 'What the ***?"
She said they consciously don't put their relationship "out there", but gushed that "he's amazing" to the chat show host.
The down-to-earth presenter said before that she hopes to still be an inspiration to single women, saying: "Maybe I can still be an inspiration; if I can find a man anyone can! I actually got to a point in my life when I thought if I never find a man I don’t care because I’ve found personal peace."
‘You always hope that you’re going to meet someone who will be your partner in crime. I’m 42 in June, as a woman it’s one of the cruelties of science and you maybe do it by yourself because you’re desperate to have kids, but I don’t think I was ever that desperate,’"she said.
