Thanks to her pre-fame You Tube videos, we’ve always known she can sing, but since focusing all her efforts into her music career, Ariana is positioning herself as this generation’s diva to watch.
Why you should know her: She’s been nominated for Grammys, VMAs, EMAs, Billboard Awards and performed at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. After a messy break-up with rapper Big Sean and an infamous donut licking incident, she is on a road to redemption in the eyes of the public.
Big break: Since first appearing on US smash tv series Modern Family in 2009, the world has been Winter’s oyster. She has kept largely to her role as the brainy Alex Dunphy and dabbled in voiceover work for animated series.
Why you should know her: She’s a breath of fresh air in Hollywood’s overly filtered public personas. Earlier this year, she spoke candidly about getting a breast reduction and she maintained a dignified silence while at the centre of a messy custody battle between her mother and sister in 2013.
Big break: Another one of Disney’s newest crop of stars, Thorne is best known for her role opposite Zendaya on Shake It Up.
Why you should know her: Thorne featured on MTV’s tv adaption of Scream is sidling up to be one of Hollywood’s few success stories of former child stars transitioning into more grown up roles.
Big break: The Australian singer reached mainstream American fame in 2010 and a turn on Dancing with the Stars brought him to new audiences in 2014
Why you should know her: Cody enjoyed high profile romances with fellow teenage sensations Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid. The single singer is focusing on music this year, forming his own label Coast House.
Big break: Since moving to LA at 16, Connor was a jobbing actor still fighting for his big break. Earlier this year, he landed a role on MTV’s Scream: The TV Series and is hailed as one of the hottest hunks in Young Hollywood.
Why you should know him: Designers are clamouring to dress him and as always, roles will follow fashion.
Big break: He featured in Big Momma’s House 2, which isn’t exactly career making stuff – but roles in Disney Channel movies landed him a steadier contract with the network.
Why you should know him: He has landed a role in Zendaya’s K.C. Undercover series on the Disney channel and if the rest of the cast is anything to go by, he’s in store for stardom.
Big break: Dylan became a tween heartthrob thanks to his role as Stiles in MTV’s small screen adaption of Teen Wolf.
Why you should know him: He landed one of the hottest acting gigs going in The Maze Runner and reprised his role for the blockbuster sequel, The Scorch Trials.
Big break: Roles in Super 8 and We Bought A Zoo have certainly kept her busy over the years, but playing Aurora in Maleficent opposite Angelina Jolie fast-tracked her to A-list territory.
Why you should know her: No longer is Elle just ‘Dakota Fanning’s little sister’, but a star in her own right.
Big break: At just 10 years old, Kaia featured in Young Versace’s groundbreaking campaign and earlier this year, landed a spread in Teen Vogue– all while being in school full-time. She signed with IMG Models, the biggest agency in the world and is often hailed as fashion’s next big thing.
Why you should know her: She’s the youngest child of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, so automatically has a head start in Young Hollywood.
Big break: Kiernan landed the coveted role as Sally Draper in Man Men when she was just eight years old. 2015 has certainly been her year as Kiernan has also been a front row staple during Fashion Month.
Why you should know her: She managed to multi-task roles for tv movies and short films in between filming for one of television’s most popular series (ever).
Lily Rose Depp
Big break: Lily Rose Melody Depp has an advantage over her peers as the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis.
Why you should know her: She’s one of Chanel’s golden girls and has been moving into the acting world with two upcoming roles in Planetarium and The Dancer.
Lorenzo James Henrie
Big break: Bit parts on popular tv shows paid the bills until he landed a lead role on one of the most watched shows of the summer – Fear The Walking Dead.
Why you should know him: FWTD has been renewed for a second season and if the popularity of its origin show is anything to go by (and he survives), there’s cult fame awaiting him.
Occupation: Model and actor
Big break: As the son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Patrick wasn’t exactly short of connections growing up. He shot to promotion last year as a model for Tom Ford and a brief dalliance with Miley Cyrus.
Why you should know him: Not content with simply standing in front of the camera, he’s following in his father’s acting footsteps and has wrapped two movies and filming two more in the last 12 months alone.
Big break: Playing Zero in 2014’s Oscar-winning The Grand Budapest Hotel (opposite Saoirse Ronan) propelled him into new heights of recognition.
Why you should know him: He’s working on five movies alone this year, so it’s safe to say Tony likes to stay busy.
Big break: Zendaya shot to fame as one of Disney tv’s staples, with her series Shake It Up lasting from 2010 to 2013. She’s back this year with another show for the channel, K.C. Undercover.
Why you should know her: These days, Zendaya is just as famous for her pioneering attitude towards race and gender. When she’s not slamming online haters or encouraging education, she’s getting Barbie to release a doll in her likeness.
