RTE’s rising star Blathnaid Treacy to take well-earned tropical break in Thailand with boyfriend
After a hectic few months working in her dream job, RTE presenter Blathnaid Treacy will finally get a chance to relax when summertime rolls around.
The Two Tube host admits she’s practically sick of airplane terminals having flown back and forth to London three times last week, but she will most likely feel differently when it’s time to jet off to Thailand.
Blathnaid (26) and her jazz musician boyfriend Charlie Mooney have been together for several years.
“I’m taking June off from work as the Two Tube season finishes up then,” Blathnaid told Independent Style. “Me and my boyfriend Charlie have been dying to go to Thailand for years so we’re going to spend a whole month there.”
The 26-year-old remains on a high from celeb spotting and street style watching in London. The blonde beauty had spent the last week interviewing the likes of Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, Jim Parsons and Will Smith on the red carpet.
“Will Smith is so lovely, he really takes his time with everyone and he managed to speak to every single person in the press tent,” she says in admiration.
The stylish presenter was also elated with the opportunity to hit the cobbles of the capital for London Fashion Week, interviewing glamorous attendees and spectating the fascinating street style at Somerset House.
“It was my first time there, and it was absolutely mad,” she recalls. “It was crazy, I was running around between the shows and exhibits.”
Blathnaid spent two action-packed days interviewing up-and-comers including milliner Martha Lynn and designer Danielle Romerill, who she has tipped as her ones to watch.
“Martha Lynn was so sweet and her designs are incredible, and literally everyone at London Fashion Week was talking about Danielle,” Blathnaid revealed. “Even though it was only her second year showing there, there was definitely a lot of hype about her collection.”
The former Glenroe child star maintains that fashion and music are her two biggest passions in life, and she is thankful that her job gives her the chance to combine both.
When she returns from her excursion to Thailand, Blathnaid hopes to work as a roving reporter for RTE at the music festivals around the country.
“Festivals and interviewing bands are my favourite thing in the world. I love that festival look too so this year I’ll be rocking duster coats, leather jackets, ripped denim and boots.”
Last year, she was nominated as ‘Most Stylish Newcomer’ at the VIP Style Awards, and she hopes to attend the star studded bash again this April.
“Any excuse to get dressed up,” she laughs.
