Pippa O'Connor hits the beach in Dubai as she leads celebrity Christmas exodus to celebrate in the sun
Pippa O'Connor said she "didn't know herself" having a stress free Christmas in the sun this year.
And she's in good company as a host of Irish stars jetted off to sunnier climes to celebrate the festive season for 2016.
The lifestyle guru flew to Dubai last week to soak up the sun with her husband Brian Ormond and sons Louis and Ollie for an alternative to their traditional Christmas.
"Christmas morning spent like this ...so weird! But so nice - I'd defo recommend it..Yes! It did feel Christmassy and soo relaxed. Ollie's excitement was magical, if only we could bottle that age, it's only 9.30pm, the rest fast asleep. Happy Christmas all," she captioned a photo of herself in a bright swimsuit holding a mimosa.
Model Roz Purcell is in Thailand with her sister Rachel island hopping for the holidays, which she described as their tradition.
"We will miss the rest of our family, but we're a pretty close family and do family dinner as often as we can so it makes up for missing Christmas. I usually go abroad for Christmas, so it has sort of become a tradition now," she told Independent.ie.
TV presenter Vogue Williams is marking the occasion in Spain, where her mother lives, and said she was looking forward to spending some time with her family as they are all based in different countries.
"My mum ditched us and moved to Spain about 12 years ago, so now we all go to Spain for Christmas. Our tradition is to have Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, because they don't really do Christmas until the 6th January over there," she explained.
"The cooking is done on Christmas Eve by my mum, she's a great cook and makes the best Brussels sprouts. On Christmas day we go to the golf club across the road, they do the cooking for us and we do the drinking."
But not all Irish celebrities left the country to get into the Christmas spirit - Rosanna Davison celebrated with her family in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow and Laura Whitmore flew home from London for a sojourn in Bray.
One Direction singer Niall Horan is also relaxing at home in Mullingar, while footballer Robbie Keane and former beauty queen Claudine Keane are celebrating with their sons Robert Jr and Hudson in Dublin.
They made the most of their time back on Irish shores as they visited Crumlin's Children's Hospital last week to inject some Christmas cheer to patients and staff.
