Kylie Jenner vs. Kylie Minogue: Who's who in the great trademark battle
Kylie Jenner has lost her petition to have the name Kylie trademarked.
The 19-year-old reality star applied for a patent to the US Patent and Trademark Office to own the trademark to the name for her businesses.
After she lodged the papers in 2016, Minogue's team fought against the trademark, saying she is known around the world as just Kylie and her website is www.kylie.com.
In some seriously shady court documents, the superstar singer described the up-and-coming Kylie as a "secondary reality television personality" who is considered a "supporting character" on Keeping Up With The Kardashians on E!.
Jenner's team has filed an appeal, so before that is (likely) rejected also, let's consider the stats:
Rise to fame: Kylie was bitten by the acting bug and had her first brush with fame in a now iconic soap role as Charlene on Neighbours in her native Australia from 1986. After releasing Locomotion in 1998, she took the first step to becoming a global superstar.
Relationship status: Recently ended engagement to actor Joshua Sasse.
Awards and accolades: OBE for services to music, three Brit Awards (14 nominations), one Grammy (five nominations), three Ivor Novello Awards (seven nominations), two VMAs and two EMAs.
