TV presenter Kathryn Thomas says there’s nothing quite like a homemade Valentine’s card, even when it strays into weird territory.

Writing in her column for The Irish Daily Star, the Operation Transformation host stated that there’s nothing like getting a sentimental gift on February 14th.

“Even though there is something gratifying about receiving a Hallmark bit of soppiness, it still doesn’t compare to the anonymous, handmade wonders we had in school long before Snapchat and Instagram,” she said.

However, the last time the Carlow native received a handmade creation, she didn’t know whether to be worried or flattered.

“I got an anonymous Valentine’s card, I have to admit it was rather more weird than romantic. It was entirely made up of words cut out of newspapers describing my top three outfits worn on Winning Streak,”

“Yep, definitely one of the weirdest cards I ever received,” she laughed.

This year Kathryn will not be spending Valentine’s Day with her boyfriend Padraig, whom she lives with in Dublin.

“I have decided to spend it with my boyfriend’s brother, Thomas….And no, it’s not what you think,” she said.

“He is opening a new gym in Tullamore and I will be there at 3pm to officially launch it.”

Kathryn and Padraig have been together since summer 2013 and recently moved in together in Dublin.

However The Voice of Ireland presenter maintains that there are no plans for wedding bells in the near future.

"I've never really been that person, That's not to say that I wouldn't, but it doesn't hold a massive draw for me, in terms of the big white dress and the big day; it's not a priority," she said.

"I'm not going to say I'd rule it out though, and my mother and sister would love it, but right now I'm happy with the way things are going. It's still relatively new as well," she added.
