Anne Doyle: 'I don't regret not having children ... I'm very happy now'
Broadcast legend Anne Doyle has revealed that she is very happy with her partner Dan McGrattan but said she doesn't consider herself to be "settled".
The former RTE news anchor is in a long-term relationship with Mr McGrattan and she said that she feels "very lucky".
"I don't know about settled - I'm very happy, I'm very lucky to have met a wonderful man," she told Miriam O'Callaghan in an in-depth interview.
"I don't think there is such a thing as being settled in life, my nature is not one that ever feels very comfortably settled," she added.
They are quite a private couple but recently stepped out as an item to attended the VIP Style Awards.
It was her partner who was keen to hit the red carpet for the glitzy affair she told the Herald.
"I don't usually come to these, but Dan insisted," she said laughing.
The retired newscaster also told Miriam she has no regrets about not having children.
"There never came a negative moment when I didn't want to do it, but there was never a moment when I said I did," she said. "It's just not the road I travelled."
The 63-year old made her final news broadcast on Christmas Day in 2011 and she said that she is still recognised on the street sometimes.
"I would have thought at this stage that I would have been well forgotten," she joked.
She said that leaving the Donnybrook station has given her back a sense of freedom as "work tended to take over for me, for better or worse," she explained.
