Alex and Steven Gerrard share first images of their first son baby Lio
Steven and Alex Gerrard have shared a photograph of their newborn son Lio George, one week after welcoming their fourth child.
The former Liverpool star (36) took to Instagram to introduce the family's new arrival to the world.
The dad-of-four shared a sweet photograph of the new baby mid-snooze, with a simple heart emojicon. The legendary footballer announced the birth last week and confirmed than both mum and baby were doing well.
"It's a boy! Lio George Gerrard was born this morning at 4.55am. Both are doing great. Our family is complete," he wrote.
The dad may have been holding out for a baby boy, as Lio is his first son. The baby's name is believed to have been inspired by striker Lionel Messi, of whom Gerrard is a huge fan.
Speaking prior to the birth, Alex spoke of her husband's desire to have a bit more male companionship in their house of women.
"I know Steven has said before he would like one, but the chances of us having one is slim with having three girls.
"He laughs and says he can't risk it - it's going to cost him a fortune in weddings if we have another girl!"
This is the fourth child for Steven and Alex, who wed in 2007. The couple already have three daughters, Lilly-Ella (13), Lexie (10) and Lourdes (5).
