You don't need to go on holiday to get that glow

Is it just me or do you sometimes feel as if all your friends have more holidays than you -- way more! Perhaps they've simply mastered the art of juggling those precious days, but certain pals seem to constantly be on the go.

If that wasn't bad enough, they have that enviable glow about them. I'm not talking about the sunkissed look. I mean the look of freedom, the one that serenely suggests they didn't spend the last three days/week/month slaving away while their boss and colleagues conspired to make their life that little bit more miserable.

Still, I'm a firm believer in making the most of what you've got so you may not have any holidays on the horizon, but that doesn't mean you can't brighten up the daily grind with a little dose of sunshine.

Bronze Goddess Soleil Fragrance, €59

If the question is just what does a sun holiday smell like, then this glorious limited edition fragrance is the answer. I've even used it as a type of aromatherapy to pep up my flagging spirits on rainy days.

Daly Spa Superstar Skin Body Melt, €13 (from Marks& Spencer)

Part of the latest range by Tess Daly of 'Strictly' fame in collaboration with M&S, this seriously hydrating body butter leaves a subtle sheen on glowing skin. It is a bit difficult to scoop it out of its container, but persevere -- it's worth it. Nice price, too.

Ambre Solaire No Streaks Bronzer, €15.39

Good preparation is essential but once you exfoliate properly and follow up with a generous helping of body moisturiser, you should soon be sporting a lovely even tan, thanks to this dry mist.

Bullet Pedi Pro, €23.99 (from Boots, Debenhams, and jmldirect.com)

Pedicured toes are a summer essential. Keep your feet in good condition with this handy little device. It quickly buffs hardened heels and bunions. Use on dry skin before your shower.

Ciate Paint Pots, €10.50

It's all about bright nails this summer. Yellow is having a moment, and it certainly looks fab with tanned toes. But I've got a crush on the juicy red Glossop polish, mainly because it would be the perfect accessory to those metallic wedges I'm currently coveting.

L'Occitane Sun Verbena Fresh Face Mist, €11.95

Keep your cool when the temperature rises in the office with a spritz of this refreshing alcohol-free mist. Lemon-scented, it's a perfect pick-me-up for that 4pm slump.

Eylure Dylash, €15

Those of us with pale lashes will particularly benefit from this eyelash dye, but dark-haired girls will appreciate the extra gloss it gives.

Don't rush in though, make sure to coat the skin around your lashes with a light layer of Vaseline.

Face wipes are very useful for cleaning up any drips and drops. You should get about six weeks from each application and there's 15 in a packet so this is one good budget buy.

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray, €6.89 (available from Boots)

After a few days in the sun, my hair may look brighter, but it can also feel like straw.

Get the look but not the feel with this new spray. Apply to wet hair and then blow dry. It takes two uses, but dark roots really benefit.
