Victoria Beckham: Ready For Her Close-Up
Sculpt, sculpt, sculpt, for razor-sharp cheekbones à la Victoria Beckham.
Do you remember Victoria Beckham's powdered matte complexion during the Spice Girls days? And that blunt black bob? And the dark, gothic lips? Of course you do. As challenging as they were for your average spectator, they're all looks as essential in the making of Victoria Beckham The Brand as much as her moody Posh Spice demeanour.
Fortunately, over the years VB has refined her make-up application and with a career as a fashion designer, adopted a far more fashion-appropriate look. (Minimal foundation, smoky eyeshadow and glossy nude lips; tick tick tick.) But quite apart from adhering to these unspoken make-up rules, Victoria has also sculpted and contoured her face like a pro.
Her blusher is cleverly placed high and diagonally on her cheekbones, chiselling her sharp features brilliantly. A touch of bronzer blending up from under her jaw line provides a darker shadow, which lifts and disguises any sagging skin (not that she has any, mind).
The final hurrah in Victoria's epic face sculpting exercise is the softly winged out eyeliner which looks more powdery than graphic.
The black shadow has been blended in underneath her bottom eye line and on top, with both lines meeting in the corner and continuing as one strong line up towards the top of her ear. It seems to me that Victoria's blusher, bronzer and eyeliner sharply increased in incline with her skyrocketing success. Perhaps it's her genius modern day interpretation of the old myth that as the economy prospers, hemlines rise. Perhaps.
