Triona's trends: Eye have a serious eyebrow crush on the Kardashian sisters. Seriously, how groomed are Kim, Kourtney and Khloe’s eyebrows? Those gals definitely understand the power of a good set of face framers, as I call them — eyebrows that lift and define the face.
When shaping the eyebrows, the first rule is go slow. Do not take too much off at a time, because what’s done can’t be undone. Pluck the hair under the arch of the eyebrow, and just tidy up any strays on top. Never take away too much from the inner edge, either. I always say that eyebrows are like sisters, not twins, so don’t try too hard to get them exactly the same: they’re individuals. Remember, you’re only ever as good as the tools that you use.
Tweezerman tweezers, above, from €15, are the royal family of tweezers, and my own personal choice are the slanted ones. I’m McLovin the Tweezermate 10X Magnification Light Up Travel Mirror, from €19, — see my picture above — it’s an optically correct mirror which has no distortion, 10X magnification, and a handy light for precise make-up application and brow shaping. Benefit’s Browzings, below, €28, includes a soft, pigmented wax that defines and shapes brows and also has a colour-complementing setting powder.
Want to remove a skin tag without a hefty price tag? Just use some dental floss. Tie the floss around the tag for two or three days as this will cut off the blood supply to its tissues causing the tag to fall off. A skin tag is a small piece of benign tissue that hangs from the skin. Normally, in girls, it’s due to your bra irritating your skin.
"A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely" — Roald Dahl, The Twits Here’s something that gives me good thoughts: Garnier are inviting women to put their UltraLift Day Cream, €15.92, to the test. Sign up at www.ultraliftchallenge.ie for a free 14-day sample kit which includes 21ml of the UltraLift Day Cream and their very own ‘Wrinkle Reader’ kit. I did it and saw a difference in my frinkles — my fun-induced wrinkles. Result!
When I am in charge of the world, every lovely girl that loves her high heels, like Victoria Beckham, right, will never, ever feel pain when wearing them. That will be the law according to Queen Triona!
Until then we have to rely on my feet favourites, Compeed Blister Plasters, which now come in a handy mixed pack, Blister Mix, €8.25. Even my boyfriend Will raves on about them since he bought new boots and skinned the heels off himself!
My top tip: before using new shoes, put the patches on where you think your feet will be sore. Definitely pop them on before you leave the house for an all-day event in heels. Seriously, is there anything worse than sore feet when you’re at a wedding or the races? If you fancy trying them for free, then look out for the Compeed Foot Fairies, who are out in force again this summer handing out free patches to pain-stricken peeps. The plasters’ active gel means you get 20 per cent faster healing. They stay put for up to three days, letting you forget all about your blister until it heals.
Amazeballs — that’s my new favourite word, btw! To find out where the Compeed Foot Fairies are next, see www.compeed.ie
BLACK IS THE BIZ
Last year was the worst year of my life. I shed a lot of tears and sometimes I would have to go on TV, or have my photo taken after a cryfest.
But guess what, the great thing about having swollen eyes is you get a funny little ridge on your upper lash line, which actually works really well with eyeliner and, because your eyes are so swollen, all the lines and wrinkles are puffed out. Every cloud has a silver lining, or should that be a black lining, in my case?
I’ve completely fallen in love with YSL’s Dessin du Regard Waterproof Eye Pencil, right, €25; it’s available in six shades but, in my opinion, black is the biz. It stays put until you decide to remove it. It glides on like a liquid, but being a pencil it’s super-easy to control and apply as the texture is remarkably smooth. It resists heat, tears — and all the emotions of a woman’s life.
TRIONA’S MOST WANTED
This is one of my fave quotes: “healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it.”
Well, if you need some emotional healing or a bit of brightening up, why not try out a new facial: lumafirm Lift & Glow Facial, by Pevonia Botanica, €130, at Monart destination spa? For one hour, you can relax and be good to yourself. Best of all, this facial is perfect for a bit of perking up and has been christened “the Cinderella effect” as it lifts the contours of the face, reduces dark circles around the eyes and brightens the skin.
It’s thanks to lumafirm Repair Cream Lift & Glow which delivers immediate and highly visible results. In a recent study, 100 per cent of participants were satisfied with the immediate lightening effect. See www.monart.ie
