Since our own beauty bags are overflowing we at Independent Woman thought it might be time to turn our attention to his. The chances of him entering the bathroom looking like him and leaving like Brad Pitt are slim to none, but it's surprising how a bit of partner pampering can yield spectacular results. Here are our five best grooming products for men.
If he likes to spend more time in the bathroom than you he'll love Clinique's Great Grooming Gift Set. Featuring an anti-aging SPF hydrator, a very luxurious exfoliator and an anti-wrinkle eye gel this should be all he needs for year round beauty. Just be careful his new found good looks don't go to his head.
Available from Clinique counters priced at €38.
If you have the luxury of separate bathrooms the new mens range from Soap and Glory might be just the thing. Ranging in price from €4.99 for shower gel to €8.99 for face balm it's complete with a hefty collection of washes, waxes, sprays and balms and also a sense of humour. Obviously we don't advise that his collection should be bigger in size than yours, but it is perfect for the 'occasionally vain' sort of man. Lets face it, when was the last time a visit to his bathroom put a smile on your face.
When it comes to hair most men have it quite easy. The occasional trip to the barber and a quick 'wash and go' will normally do the job, but for the chap who is a tad more sculpted Black and White have the answer with a perfectly pliable Pomade. Great for texture, good for hold, simply packaged and it smells delicious. Amuse yourself at how quickly your man can be turned into the sort who exclaims "Don't touch the hair".
Available from Peter Mark, and most barbers the pomade is priced at €4.99
Originally designed by Jo Malone as an anniversary gift for her husband, Amber & Lavender Cologne is a perfect summer scent for him. Blended with lemon, rose and a twist of lavender the fragrance is also available as a bath oil, body creme and shower gel. Whilst under normal circumstances we wouldn't advise such lavish expenditure on the male of the species Jo Malone comes with one big advantage - you can use it too. What could be better than generosity that hides the perfume crime of the century ?
Available from Jo Malone counters.
Shaving takes a toll on his skin but not shaving takes it's toll on yours. I know which I prefer. The good news is that Ahava have stepped in to offer something by way of help for the red-raw man. The Foam Free Silk Shave is enriched with dead sea minerals and a raft of goodies designed to lift, soften and condition bristles while hydrating and nourishing the skin.
Available from www.ahava.co.uk, priced at £15 (around €18)
