Pop colours are big for summer. Bold but not too brash. Pop art rather than pop tart. On the catwalk J Mendel did it well, on the red carpet Katy Perry did it to death, but for our money Roy Lichtenstein does it best. Pop colours are very now, but easy to get wrong.

Stick to these pointers:

Keep the glow

Although the look is matte, a little natural glow helps. Ditch the usual base for a foundation stick and blend where needed. If you really do need some colour, a light pink blush lightens up the look.

Not too sexy not too sleepy

Pink eyeshadow can be tricky to pull off and always runs the risk of making you look like you haven't slept. Stick to light shades on the eyes, keep colours sheer and add lashings of mascara for added definition.

Lick those lips

Super bright lips are the cornerstone of this look. Keep them bright and work the pop look with lips in orange, pinks and cherry red. Apply lipstick from the bullet and layer some gloss for a knockout pout.
