Trendwatch: Easy elegance

Sinead Van Kampen

Elegant and feminine, with just a hint of rebellion. The easy elegance look was huge at last years Honour SS11 Collections. Reminiscent of Catherine Deneuve in all her rebellious pomp, those heavy foundations are left behind and the usual pots of bronze and rouge are replaced by a simple highlighter.

Here are the rules:

Easy does it

Keep skin clean and simple. Heavy foundations are out and subtle tinted moisturisers are in. Bronzers are banned, blushers are banished and skin is soft, radiant and barely there. Get some definition for cheekbones with some low-key highlighter.

In the round

Shadow is sculpted rather than smokey so blend blend blend and round off those sharper edges! Palettes can be mixed though this look really works best with singular colours and shades. Work soft browns, ambers and creams from lid to brow for really nude eyes.

Lips are light

Bold lips may have graced the SS11 catwalks, but this look calls for a much more blended finish. Think creamy nude pinks (the lighter the better) and keep the formula matte for a perfectly unpreened pout!

Lashes get naked

Though the look has a soft side it's surprising just how bold a near naked face can look - lose the liner, give the mascara a miss and embrace the drama of naked lashes!
