The eyes have it: How to make the most of your peepers
Aisling Keenan on how to make the most of your peepers
Party season is well and truly upon us, girls. Between work nights out, Christmas lunch with the girls and the million family events you have to attend, you’ll want to look your absolute best.
There really is no better feeling than when you know you’ve wowed someone with the way you look. Your colleagues see you in daytime makeup and office attire Monday to Friday, so your work party is the perfect opportunity to show them what a glamazon they’ve been working with.
Likewise with your family and friends, who see you at your scruffy worst when they drop in unannounced, Christmas is your chance to transform yourself into the dropdead gorgeous woman you are underneath.
You’ve got the perfect LBD and killer heels, now all you need is a wow-factor face to match. Worried your usual make-up routine won’t quite cut it this year? Time to get out and treat yourself to a pair of fluttery, fabulous false lashes..
Whatever the occasion, there are lashes to meet your needs. Eyelure has the most comprehensive range at the moment, but there is a huge variety of lashes out there. Being a bit of an eyelash fiend myself, I’ve tried pretty much all of them. Here are my picks, plus some need-toknow tips about getting the false-lash look spot on.
You want: length and added flutter but nothing too overthe- top
Go for: Girls Aloud ‘Nicola’ lashes, €5.95, from Boots and Debenhams online.
You want: Pure glam, with unmatchable drama and volume
Go for: MAC False Lashes, no34, €12, from Brown Thomas and BT2.
You want: To personalise your lash look, adding more drama as the day turns into night
Go for: Eyelure Individual Lashes, €6.25 from Boots and Debenhams online.
You want: Sparkle, volume and a flirty curl
Go for: Girls Aloud Party Lashes, ‘Kimberley’, €6.25, from Boots and Debenhams online.
GIVE IT A LASH
Apply the glue directly to the lashes, along the line where they’ll meet your lids.
Allow the glue to semidry until tacky before putting them on, otherwise they’ll slip and slide all over the place.
Always measure strip lashes before applying, as you may need to trim them. Trim from the part that will be on the inside of your eye.
Get strips and individual lashes as close to your lash line as possible; it’ll look far more natural that way.
For individual lashes, apply one per eye as you go, alternating left eye to right eye to make them match.
The inner corner of the eye can be tricky. Put a little bit of glue on your index finger and dab it a few times if it won’t stay.
All eyelash glues dry clear, so don’t worry about excess glue being visible. Now, you’re all set to flutter your lashes at anyone who catches your eye
