The pharmacy chain has recalled the Botanics All Bright Cleanser in 250ml bottles as it does not meet "stringent quality standards" and "may cause a localised skin reaction."

The public has been advised to stop using the product, which retails at €3.50, and return it to any Boots store.

The specific item code is 49-98-928 and the batch code is 1H. Check the base of the cleanser to see if your product matches these codes.

A statement published on the Boots website reads:

"We have recently discovered that a batch of Botanics All Bright Cleanser 250ml (batch 1H) does not meet our stringent quality standards and in rare cases may cause a localised skin reaction."

"As a precautionary measure we are recalling this batch of product and ask you stop using it and return the product to your nearest Boots store where you'll receive an exchange, alternative product or a refund."

"We always aim to provide the best possible products and service to our customers and we're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you've bought this for someone else would you please let them know about this as soon as possible."

If you have any concerns regarding the product, the statement advises that you go to your local Boots store or call the Boots Customer Care team on (+44) 800 509 115.
