Shelf life - Triona McCarthy on clever storage

Our resident luxury-loving beauty expert is all about clever storage this week, plus she has light-hearted beauty banter.
Listen up ladies, it's time to lighten your beauty load and only use the things you heart. See what I did there? What I'm writing about segues perfectly with my outfit choice and the set-up in my photo, main, this week! I am a woman of ridiculous talents.
Right, I've put down my trumpet, and I'll continue with my theme: clearing out your beauty booty.
First, you need a trip to TK Maxx - they stock the best perspex containers in which you can store the contents of your beauty life. Empty every bit of make-up you own out onto the bed or floor, and you might notice that you've fallen into the trap of buying the same make-up over and over again, and now you have three half-used purple eyeshadows, 13 used brown eyeshadows, 23 black eyeliners, and so on. So make a list of what's missing from your make-up, chuck what's old or never suited you anyway, pare your pencils, wash your brushes, and give everything a proper place in your new storage system.
It makes putting your face on far more fun.
Palettes are always a good idea. You can't go wrong with L'Oreal's Paris La Palette Nude Beige,€21.99, as it has every eyeshadow colour you need and will actually use, from ivory through to charcoal. And the double-ended brush that comes with it is actually really good.
For the make-up you need to carry with you, check out this Nails Inc cosmetic bag, below, €12 from Debenhams.
Remember doughnut rings for your hair? You know those wire-y, spongy things? Michaella McCollum wore one. Now you remember! They have been banished to style-Siberia, but if you have one, use it to clean your eyeshadow brushes when you're doing a smoky-eye look, and you need to switch colours and only have one brush. It works a treat!
I love a little luxury, I can't help it - I'm a Leo, you see, so it's written in the stars. I always love anything that's a little fancy and that I, eh, can't afford! Will calls it my 'Champagne campaign'.
Anyhoo, the new Armani Prive limited-edition fragrance, Fil Rouge, above, €550, costs a fortune, but it's honestly like nothing I've smelt for a long time and let me tell you, I get to sniff a lot of snazzy stuff that quite often leaves me a bit, well, meh!
I can't remember the last time I got this excited about a fragrance. It's a real feast for the senses, and the bottle is in my fave colour combo of red and blue, on a white background, so it's great for showing-off purposes - another Leo trait - and then there's the juice.
It opens with clean notes of bergamot and aldehydes, moving on to a powdery perfection of iris notes with green angelica on a base of white musk and ambergris. There are only 1,000 bottles available worldwide, which makes it even more Leo-tastic!
So sassy lassie Amy Huberman and rugger player Rob Kearney have invested in a swanky new salon, Oslo, which opened recently in Ballsbridge, D4 - FYI, a second premises is also opening in Ranelagh - but back to the salon on Mespil Road.
It has all the usual treatments and well-known brands, including Carita facials, Lyon waxing, Mink eyelashes, Vita Liberata tan, and essie nail polishes, to make you feel as fabulous as Hollywood siren Jessica Alba, above, looks. However, it's the interiors, which were designed by Irish textile designer Aoife Mullane, that make it stand out. Think silver and rose-gold opulence.
The addition of a blow-dry bar, Hot Air, which will be opening shortly in the same building, will make it a one-stop shop.
Check it out for yourself!

Triona's most wanted
Will says I'm a 'shenanigan enthusiast' - if there are shenanigans to be had, I'll be the most enthusiastic person to be with, basically! But shenanigans can show on your face.
Luckily, the clever clogs at Lancome have come up with a wonderful new range, Energie de Vie, that's chock-full of antioxidants to protect your skin cells - so you end up looking like you actually went to bed at 6pm, not 6am!
The Smoothing & Glow-boosting Liquid Care, above, €37, is a totally new consistency - a liquid moisturiser. It feels as fresh as water, as comforting as a cream, and it's as concentrated as a serum. The liquid transforms on my skin to give it a hydrated, matt finish, so it's perfect to pop make-up over.
Now, remember how I said I was bringing toner back? Well, Lancome must have decided to help me out, because their Smoothing and Plumping Pearly Lotion, €37, in the Energie de Vie range, is the most amazing toner-type product I've tried this year.
It contains sparkling, translucent pearls - the perfect pick-me-up in the morning, when you aren't feeling or looking your liveliest.
Finally, the Overnight Recovery Sleeping Mask, below, €55, can be used as a night cream or a mask. To use as a mask, you apply it generously, then tissue it off after 20 minutes. To use it as a night cream, just use the regular night-cream amount.
Urban Decay, you are speaking my language! The new Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Cream, below, €32, does exactly what it says on the tube. I love it for 'days off' when I don't want a full face of slap, but like a lightweight coverage and SPF protection. And the pump action means I get the perfect amount when I press it, so there's no messing around. #itsthelittlethings
