The stunning actress (31), who won the Best Supporting Actress golden statue for her role in 12 Years a Slave, has rarely been out of the spotlight since bursting onto the scene in the past year.
And People magazine has taken notice.
The American glossy has awarded her the title of the Most Beautiful Woman in the World, a title previously held by Beyonce, Julia Roberts and Gwyneth Paltrow.
She told the magazine that, growing up in Kenya, she believed that only women with 'light skin and flowing, straight hair' are beautiful and is thrilled with her latest accolade - which comes just weeks after being announced as the new face of Lancome.
Lupita said it was " exciting and just a major, major compliment".
"I was happy for all the girls who would see me on it and feel a little more seen," she added.
Joining her on this year's list are actresses Keri Russell, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Mindy Kaling, Amber Heard, Pink, Gabrielle Union, Molly Sims, Stacy Keibler and Kerry Washington.
