Caitlin McBride reports on what the best dressed nails are wearing for awards season
The dresses, the dates, the speeches and the bling have been our awards seasons obsessions for so long but a red-hot trend has now taken over – what celebs are wearing on their nails.
The impossibly cute Anne Hathaway sent the beauty world into overdrive with her black and white talons.
The Les Miserables actress wore her white polish with an embellished black butterly at this year’s SAG Awards. The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco wore her heart, not quite on her sleeve, but rather her fingernails – we heart, pun very much intended, her unique nail art.

Long and sharp
Kelly Osbourne spends her days critiquing Hollywood’s collective style on E!’s Fashion Police and proves she’s qualified for the job with her sharp talons. Jennifer Lopez also rocked some strategically styled nails for this year’s Golden Globes.

Nudes and whites
Actress of the moment Jessica Chastain went for a clear base at this year’s Golden Globes, and she’s in good company with Jennifer Garner , who also sported nude shades for the 2013 awards season. This one is definitely for the conservative fashionista.
Editor’s Tip: We’d recommend a two-week manicure when it comes to paler shades on your pinkies. Try a shellac or gel polish.
Before we say goodbye to the winter months, embrace the dark side with rich browns and berries. Miranda Kerr, Sarah Hyland and Nicole Richie all wore darker tones at the Golden Globes this year and it’s easy to see why. These shades give the illusion of longer nails, but do require maintenance as one chip will give you away.

Metallics have been a key trend in fashion during the last year, and it’s finally translated to our hands. Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery and Cougar Town’s Busy Phillips kept it gold for their red carpet appearance at the SAG Awards and this is by far, our favourite look so far.
