Looking for alternative anti-ageing techniques? Why not try one of these:
Quit smoking. The only anti-ageing procedure that actually puts money back in your pocket. Results can be dramatic so what are you waiting for?
Bicarbonate of soda and orange juice. Mix a small amount of each into a paste and then smear onto skin. The orange juice provides the benefits of vitamin C and the bicarbonate's whitening effect is said to even out skin tone. The coarse paste also makes a great exfoliator. You've nothing to lose by trying this one.
Bird poo facial. Taken from a century-old Japanese tradition, this New York (where else?) facial involves dried, powdered nightingale faeces to get your skin singing again. Not for the faint-hearted.
Bee venom. Victoria Beckham, Kylie Minogue and Kate Middleton are all said to be fans. The venom apparently plumps up collagen thereby reducing wrinkles.
Vampire facelifts. Only rich Twilight fans need apply. A sample of your blood is spun to separate out the plasma from the red blood cells and then the purified plasma is injected back into the skin of the person that donated the blood. And if that wasn't bad enough – it's $800 a go. No thanks.
Placenta face masks. Do you really need to know more?
