On the scent - four great summer fragrances
With spring upon us and summer just around the corner, we, at Independent Woman, have been scouring the beauty counters to see what smells new for Summer 2010. We can finally bring you, after much spritzing and spraying, and walking into clouds of misty fragrance, our rundown of this season's best scents.
Jo Malone Kohdo Wood Collection
Cult perfume brand Jo Malone doesn't disappoint this summer with the latest launch of their inspired Kohdo Wood Collection. Featuring two complimentary fragrances the latest collection will take you from day to night. The evening scent, Dark Amber and Ginger Lilly, features a combination of cardamom, orchid and Kyara wood and a fragrance which radiates calmness.
Our favourite, by a country mile, is the daytime scent of Lotus Blossom & Water Lily which has refreshing top notes of grapefruit, bergamot and mandarin which should be the perfect companion from breakfast until sunset. As the scents are complimentary and can be worn over each other perhaps we can justify buying both by saying we get the third scent for free?
Available from Jo malone counters from May, priced at €80 for 100ml
Eau De Sisley One
Fans of the Sisly fragrance collection will be delighted at the launch of signature fragrances Eau De Sidley 1, 2 and 3 in new 50ml bottles. With notes of green mandarin, grapefruit and pink berries Eau De Sisley 1 caught our attention by way of being perfect if you like your perfume floral but not too sweet. Notes of juniper berry, patchouli and musk also give it a deep fragrance making the perfect perfume for warm summer evenings out.
Available from Brown Thomas, priced at €71 for 50ml.
Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche
Estée Lauder's signature summer Bronze Goddess fragrance is now in it's third year. Beautifully beachy with top notes of coconut milk, sandalwood, vanilla and base notes of magnolia, orange and lavender, it's the perfect holiday scent and one spritz will have you transported to a place in the sun. This year's bottle has been given a beach inspired re-design and the contents are now nestled in double-walled glass with a stylish light bronze finish.
Available from House of Fraser from April and at Estée Lauder counters nationwide from May, priced at €59 for 100ml.
Elemis Eau de Parfume
To celebrate their 20th Anniversary Elemis are launching their debut scent which will be available from counters in May. The fragrance is light and zesty with top notes of elemi and sweet grass and base notes of Galiac wood and oak moss. Perfect as a sweet fresh fragrance for day time wear.
