Forget your pink and nude lipsticks, because grey is set to be the lipstick shade of the year thanks to Gigi Hadid.

The Victoria's Secret model stepped out on the streets of New York last week wearing striking grey lipstick and a cobalt blue tracksuit, but can the average woman pull off the look?

Makeup artist Robyn O'Brien told Independent.ie that, thanks to the rise of makeup artists and beauty-lovers on social media, Irish women have become more experimental with their day-to-day look.

While grey lipstick may once have been looked upon as something that could only be worn on the runway, nowadays bolder is better when it comes to decorating your face.

"I definitely think Irish women will take on this trend," said Robyn.

"In the last few years, the Irish beauty scene has really exploded and Irish women are becoming more adventurous with their makeup."

Robyn noted that women of a younger age group would be most likely to brave the bold look as it's trend-based, but it can be worn more subtly if you want to wear it without drawing too much attention.

"This lip with a pared-back eye would be the perfect combination. By making the lip the main focus of your makeup, it gives a more high fashion edge to your look."

For a trend like this, investing in a high-end product might not be the most savvy option, so opt for budget-friendly brands, such as NYX and Rimmel, when trying it out.
